You need your exterior to match your interior in terms of classiness and aesthetic appeal. This isn’t possible if your lawn is overgrown and the garden is a mess. All the hard work spent on improving the interior decor is wasted when it’s juxtaposed with a horrible exterior!
Maintaining harmony between the two is easy if you keep up with regular garden maintenance. Most importantly, make sure you’re mowing the lawn so the grass stays healthy. You’ll end up with lush green grass that looks gorgeous and adds to your home’s overall appeal. Mowing the lawn might not be your favourite job but here are three tips that will make it easier:
1. Use A Battery Lawnmower
Many lawnmower types exist and petrol or reel mowers are a top choice for many. The problem with these is that they discourage you from mowing the lawn frequently. A reel mower is manual and will take ages to cut your grass, so you avoid doing it. Petrol mowers can sometimes take a while to activate and then you have to deal with going to a petrol station and buying fuel when it runs out.
A battery lawnmower is a more practical option than either. You can get wireless ones with a removable battery and you simply switch it out for a charged one when the power drains. It’s much easier to get lawnmower spare parts for battery mowers too as they’re more modern and popular. Now, nothing’s standing in the way of you and mowing the lawn, so it’s instantly easier.
2. Mow The Lawn Frequently
The biggest problem with mowing the lawn is when the grass gets too long. What should be a twenty-minute job now takes over an hour. Not to mention, you can run the risk of damaging the lawnmower because the grass is so long.
As tempting as it is to let the grass grow and mow your lawn once a month, experts suggest that anywhere between once a week to once every two weeks is the smarter choice. When it’s bright and wet (Spring and Autumn) you need to mow once a week as the grass grows so quickly. In dry summers, you can extend to once every two weeks – and the same is true for the winter.
While this might mean mowing the lawn more often than usual, you will end up spending less time. It can take ten minutes some days as the grass doesn’t require a lot of cutting compared to when you’re mowing through tall, thick grass.
3. Only Mow When The Grass Is Dry
Make life even easier by only mowing the lawn when it’s dry. Never mow wet grass as it turns a simple task into an impossible one. You’ll probably break your lawnmower and it’ll take two or three times as long to cut the grass. Wait for a dry day and the chore will be much easier.
You can’t neglect lawn mowing if you want a beautiful home, but you can learn how to make it less challenging. Get the right equipment, mow frequently and avoid touching the grass if it’s wet.
