Toothpaste On The Mirror: Memories Amongst The Mess

girl at the kitchen bench

Motherhood is messy. Parenting young children is a blessing but the exhaustion is real. The chaos is real.

It can be hard to have perspective when you’re living in the thick of it.

The saying is true: the days are long and the years are short.

I wrote this to help remind myself to pause, take a breath and remember that these days won’t last. Make memories amongst the mess.

Toothpaste on the mirror,

porridge on the floor,

scribbles on the wall,

I blink and boom there’s more.

Things I haven’t cleaned yet,

things I need to do.

Endless mess and chaos

I never get ‘round to.

It won’t always look like this,

won’t always be this way,

this stage won’t last forever-

I’ll miss it all one day.
