Looking for inclusive spaces for kids in Adelaide? There’s a new source of information that has everything you need for inclusivity.
Having a child with a disability can be an isolating experience. It can feel overwhelming with the level of challenges and behaviour. It can feel exhausting to navigate a diagnosis, find therapy and manage appointments. With this can come embarrassment, loneliness and shame. It can feel like no one understands what you are going through.
You don’t know until you know.
How It Started
Marcal is a mother in Adelaide. Her son is autistic and has sensory processing difficulties. She has lived experience trying to find inclusive spaces for her son.
This fuelled Marcal’s passion to help other families navigate this area. She wanted to take away some of the barriers and make it easier to access information.
Life with a child who has additional needs is hard enough. Accessing the right support, services and inclusive spaces shouldn’t have to be.
Marcal set out to create a centralised resource for parents and caregivers in Adelaide. It could save time with everything you need in one spot. It could bridge the gap and help equip parents with the advice and information they need. It could create the community of like-minded families they craved.
With Inclusive Kids Adelaide, you don’t have to do it alone.

This resource will continue to grow over time. If you run a program or know of an inclusive event coming up, you can let Marcal and the team know know.
Playground Reviews
There are plenty of websites that showcase playgrounds in Adelaide (think Kids In Adelaide, Play & Go Adelaide & Kiddo). These are great however they are not always inclusive for children with additional needs. In my experience, the planning aspect before leaving the house can be exhausting. Knowing that you’ll have the facilities you need and a close walk to the car for an easy escape is vital.
You can search for a truly inclusive playground on the Inclusive Kids Adelaide website. You can ensure that you are going to a space with a gated fence, family bathroom, equipment for all abilities, seating and parking close by. It can help to reduce the uncertainty and anxiety that can come when taking children out in public. It can reduce triggers to a meltdown and help create a successful outing.
A resource like this can be a lifesaver and helpful when planning playdates and parties.
You can find their growing list of playgrounds here.
